About Justin

Since its conception, Salvavidas International has been Justin’s baby. “Never underestimate what you can accomplish just by showing up,” has long been our motto and Justin’s tenacity and finesse have proven it again and again.

“I have been a volunteer ocean lifeguard with the American Red Cross Volunteer Lifesaving Corps since 1996 and have always had an interest in drowning prevention. Attending the 2007 World Congress on Drowning in Portugal provided my first exposure to the massive scope of the drowning problem and allowed me to interact with physicians, epidemiologists, and other public health officials that all shared my passion.

I believe that health and wellness are inalienable rights that are sadly, unavailable to many at home and abroad. Medical school has introduced me to the modality and importance of public health as a tool to treat populations and I eagerly await the opportunity to pursue a Masters in Public Health. With my EMT and travel experience, I hope to use my talents in a residency program in Emergency Medicine and combined fellowship in International and Disaster Medicine. I think that domestic and international disaster response blend medicine and public health delivered to people in times of crisis. The world is shrinking and re-integrating public health and medicine offers us a chance to look beyond borders and provide the hope of treatment to our fellow man.”
